QUICK TIPS FOR A YEAR OF SUCCESS

Your resolutions are set. Your vision board is complete. Your goals are written. You are ready for the year ahead. While big goals are a great way to set the path for your year ahead, there are things to keep in mind daily that will set you on the path to success in 2021.

Do your best not to complain Venting to friends is one thing, but it is always a good idea to keep things in perspective. When it comes to your job, complaining can keep you from achieving goals, cohesion with coworkers, and good work output. If you find yourself complaining, ask yourself if it is something you can change. If so, make a plan to put yourself in a better situation. If you cannot change it, try to come up with coping mechanisms that will help you to continue to be productive but also give you peace of mind.

Take breaks
Americans are infamous for overworking. According to the Washington Post, 55% of Americans did not use all of their vacation time. Many company policies do not allow for vacation time to rollover. Make sure to schedule breaks throughout the year. Whether you plan to take a vacation, remain home for a staycation, or just take a mental break, be sure your benefits do not go to waste.

Meal plan
To keep from overspending on groceries or eating out, try to make a plan for your meals. This will also help portion control and healthy habits when it comes to your food.

Don’t compare and despair
It can be easy to compare yourself to others around you. Whether personally or professionally, you should not base your journey or success on someone else. Everyone has different lifestyles, ambitions, and mindsets. Be kind to yourself, and only use yourself as a baseline for your goals.

Practice gratitude
After a tough year like 2020, it is not difficult to slip into a negative mindset. Being positive and having an attitude of gratitude takes mindfulness. Try writing down the best parts of your day, meditating, and expressing what and whom you are grateful for.

Read, read, read
Whatever your goal may be, there are people who have gone through a lot of trial and error to reach that very same goal. Learn from their mistakes and successes. Reading for fun is also a great way to unplug and take a break from technology. Your local library has tons of free options in just about every genre.
