HISTORY

The year was 1953. Dwight D. Eisenhower was our nation’s newly elected President, Queen Elizabeth II became England’s monarch, and the Polio vaccine was invented.
So, it would have been easy to overlook the accounting firm Sidney Broussard and Braxton Moody, III opened in Crowley, Louisiana that year. The firm offered basic accounting services in Acadia Parish for individuals and small businesses.

They worked hard to earn the trust of their clients and took pride in helping their community grow.

From those humble beginnings, we’ve grown to serve businesses in all 64 Louisiana parishes and more than 40 states.

Through the years, we’ve added services as well. Of course, we still offer standard accounting services. But we’ve expanded to meet the needs of our clients. Today, we offer various specialized services, such as valuation, pension administration, and accounting software consulting.

And though we’ve gotten bigger and offer more services, we’re still committed to the values of our founders. For them, it was never about being just an accounting firm.

It was about helping people and earning trust.

We still operate that like that today. That’s why our clients call us their lifetime firm.

At Broussard Poché, LLP, Scott specializes in business/individual taxation and business valuation. He has 50 years of Public Accounting experience and is based out of the company’s Lafayette Office. He graduated from LSU in 1973, and currently serves as a Board Member of Hanna Foundation.

L. Charles Abshire, CPA Partner/Tax Department

At Broussard Poché, LLP, Charles specializes in business/individual taxation. Graduating from USL in 1974, he has 49 years of Public Accounting experience and is based out of the company’s Crowley Office.

Craig J. Viator, CPA Partner / Tax Department

At Broussard Poché, LLP, Craig specializes in business and individual taxation. He has 40 years of Public Accounting experience and is based out of the company’s New Iberia Office. He graduated from USL in 1983, and currently serves as Treasurer of the New Iberia Optimist Club.

John L. Istre, CPA Audit Department Head

At Broussard Poché, LLP, John specializes in audits of financial institutions and non-profits. He has 30 years of Public Accounting experience and is based out of the company’s Lafayette Office. He graduated from USL in 1993.

Elizabeth J. Moreau, CPA/ABV, CVA Partner/Tax Department

At Broussard Poché, LLP, Liz practices in the areas of corporate taxation, financial analysis, and specializes in business appraisal. She is a 1992 graduate, cum laude, of the University of Southwestern Louisiana and has been a part of the Broussard Poche, LLP team for the last 30 years. She is a former board member of Faith House and a current board member of the Hanna Educational Foundation.

Lonnie J. Hebert, CPA Partner/Tax Department

At Broussard Poché, LLP, Lonnie specializes in sales & use tax and tax incentives, along with business and individual taxation. He has 30 years of Public Accounting experience and is based out of the company’s Lafayette Office. He graduated from USL in 1993, and currently works with the Louisiana Folk Roots organization and is a Member of the Knights of Columbus.

Robert DeRouen Jr., CPA Partner/Tax Department

At Broussard Poché, LLP, Robert specializes in business and individual taxation in our New Iberia office. He is a 1982 graduate of USL and has 38 years of Public Accounting experience; he is licensed in Louisiana and Texas. Robert is active in several Catholic organizations in the Diocese of Lafayette.

Carlinna L. Bertrand, CPA Partner/Tax Department

At Broussard Poché, LLP, Carlinna specializes in business/individual and non-profit taxation and financial institution and non-profit audit services. She has 38 years of public and corporate accounting experience and is based out of the Crowley office. She graduated from USL in 1985 and is a past board member and secretary/ treasurer of the Crowley Chamber of Commerce and currently treasurer of various local school organizations.

Jim Oliver Partner/IT Department

At Broussard Poché, LLP, Jim’s responsibilities include IT, HR, marketing, and infrastructure internal to Broussard Poche. Hired originally as IT Director in 2001, Jim’s duties have expanded over his 22 years with the firm. Jim has associate and bachelor’s degree from UL Lafayette and a master’s degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Jim is a member of the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce.

Erin T. Melancon, CPA Partner/Audit Department

At Broussard Poche, LLP, Erin specializes in audits of many industries including financial institutions, non-profit, construction contractors, and general business. She started with the firm in March of 2001 as an intern. Upon graduating Magna Cum Laude, from UL in 2002, Erin joined Broussard Poche, LLP, full time.
